Horizontal 1

this is image #1

this is image #2

Horizontal seam removal: first removes the white area mear the bottom of the image, then takes away the mostly solid-colored parts of the building.

Horizontal 2

this is image #1

this is image #2

Horizontal seam removal: not very successful, as image has too many distinct, thin lines, resulting in distortion of those lines.

Vertical 1

Vertical seam removal: semi-successful. Great majority of the seams are taken from the right side, as the desert area is more uniform in color and style than the waves.

Vertical 2

Vertical seam removal: Not successful, as detailed, edgy, objects in the background and foreground have a higher gradient value than the two men.

Notes

-Gradient is recalculated every time a seam is removed.
-Implemented with many for loops.Pretty slow. Takes just under a second to calculate and remove a seam for a 480X480 image
